Zebec Adds Native Support for tGBP, Bringing the First UK-Based Pound Stablecoin to Payroll and Payments

tGBP is now live across the Zebec platform, enabling British pound-denominated digital payments, card spend, and real-time value transfers for businesses and individuals worldwide.
London, June 28, 2026 – Zebec, the real-time payroll and payments infrastructure provider, today announced native support for Tokenised GBP (tGBP), the first UK-based British pound stablecoin issued by FCA-registered BCP Technologies.
tGBP is now available within the Zebec SuperApp, enabling users to hold, transfer, and spend digital pounds in real life through Zebec Mastercard-powered cards. Support for real-time payment streaming is live immediately, with enterprise payroll functionality expected in a future platform release.
The integration expands access to pound sterling-denominated digital payments for businesses, employees, contractors, and individual users, while broadening the range of stablecoins available across the Zebec ecosystem.
"Stablecoins are increasingly becoming practical financial infrastructure for businesses and individuals operating globally," said Simon Babakhani, CEO of Zebec. "Adding support for tGBP gives our users access to a digital representation of one of the world's leading currencies while creating new opportunities for payroll, payments, and cross-border transactions."
Launched in 2025, Tokenised GBP (tGBP) is the first UK-based pound sterling stablecoin and is issued by BCP Technologies, an FCA-registered cryptoasset firm. With more than $30 million in total value locked, tGBP is available across major blockchain networks including Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, and Base, and is listed on leading digital asset platforms including Coinbase, Kraken, and Wirex.
The collaboration reflects growing demand for regulated, fiat-backed digital currencies that can move seamlessly across blockchain networks while remaining familiar to businesses and consumers.
"We launched tGBP to bring a trusted digital version of the pound sterling to the global digital economy," said Benoît Marzouk, CEO of BCP Technologies. "Integrating with Zebec extends the utility of tGBP beyond trading and transfers into real-world use cases such as payments, payroll, and everyday spending. Together, we are helping make digital pounds more accessible and useful for businesses and consumers alike."
The addition of tGBP further expands the range of supported digital currencies available through Zebec's growing payroll and payments network. Businesses can use stablecoins to manage payroll, contractor payments, benefits distribution, and cross-border transactions, while recipients gain greater flexibility in how they receive and use funds.
